Murakami once said:
When you hold a conch to your ear, you don’t really hear the sea. It’s only the air, wandering inside, looking for a place to rest. The sound it makes is an echo of its own loneliness.
This furniture is something like that. The shutters bend and swallow sound, keeping some and letting some escape. Outside noise stays outside, as if it has forgotten your name. What remains is a small, polite silence — the kind that waits with you, patiently, like an old friend.
